5 Ways to Be Healthier (Without Hitting the Gym) July 6, 2020 08:26

Hey babes! We hope you’re having the best summer! Even though this summer looks a little different, we are still trying to find ways we can stay healthy at home! While physical health is important to us, we also believe mental health is also incredibly important - especially this year! We wanted to let you in on a few of our favorite ways to stay healthy without going to the gym!

Hydrate

Drinking water is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself! Staying hydrated helps your overall well-being and energy levels. It can even help clear your skin, which we’re fans of!  Does consuming enough H2O feel difficult? Don’t worry! Our best tips include buying a big water bottle or tumbler that you like (there are so many out there!), invest in cute accessories like reusable straws, and try adding a little flavor. Spruce up your water, by adding lemon slices or mint for even more health benefits! Plus, it’s tasty and refreshing!

Journal

Take some time in the mornings or right before bed and write down what’s going on in your life. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you process things from your day, get clear on big goals, or just help work through something that’s been on your mind! It doesn’t have to be fancy - a simple notebook will do. An easy way to start journaling is by giving yourself journal prompts. One of our fave journal prompts is by Amber Rae. She gives simple journal prompts to help get you started! You can follow her on instagram here.

At Home Workout

We may be skipping the gym, but we’re not skipping working out or physical health. Physical and mental health go hand in hand!  Our team has been loving the ability over the past few months to work out in the comfort of our own homes. An at home workout can be as simple as taking a walk around your neighborhood, running a familiar trail or going for a bike ride! Here at Impressions HQ we have also enjoyed at home workouts such as Yoga with Adirenne, Blogilates, Chloe Ting, and Barre3! You can read about our fave at home workouts in our blog titled “Our Fave At Home Workouts.”

Limit Screen Time

With being disconnected from friends and family more during this time, we know this can be hard! We find ourselves scrolling a little more than usual these days! Limiting screen time, though, can be good for your mental health. Who has time for comparison on social media?! Not us! An easy way to implement this is by not looking at your phone the first or last hour of your day. You can even put your phone on “Do not Disturb” or even set time limits for certain apps like Instagram or TikTok for other ways to limit the constant notifications and distraction.

Start a Hobby

During this time, our creative team has enjoyed hobbies such as writing, photography, hiking and gardening. Picking up a new hobby is a great way to spend any extra time you might have these days. It helps it get your mind off the things going on in the world. Trying something new or even working on something you’ve always had as a hobby gives you a place to channel your creative energy and gives you a sense of accomplishment.

We hope these tips are just one small step in helping improve your overall mental and physical wellbeing! Enjoy this long holiday weekend ahead! Show us your Fourth of July outfit by tagging us @shopimpressions and using the hashtag #shopimpressions!
